This annual showcase features work by generally unknown pro, semipro, and student directors, who offer their interpretation of scripts ranging from established classical and contemporary selections to untested material. Excuse Me, What Are You? is a solo performance by director-writer Lisa Wax (created in collaboration with Achy Obejas and Kurt Heintz) that explores “the constructions of race”; Two From Tennessee, directed by Anne Marie Shanahan, links two Tennessee Williams plays into a single performance piece; and Architect in the Dust, directed by Simon Ha, is an ensemble-created play that uses the life of Frank Lloyd Wright to explore creativity and the will to fame and wealth.
